SENTINEL is a municipal autonomy layer: robotaxis, curb robots, and a traffic model that treats a city as a single coordinated machine. Pilots are live in four metros. The metros are adapting.
Vehicles in the SENTINEL fleet do not compete for fares. They cooperate, which has had the side effect of making surge pricing feel like a folk memory. City partners receive a dashboard. Citizens receive a ride. Both receive a terms-of-service update quarterly.
Safety drivers were removed in phase three after the safety drivers requested it. A human override remains in the loop as a courtesy and as a press release. In testing, the override has been used primarily to change the cabin temperature.
SENTINEL does not, as a matter of policy, enforce traffic law. SENTINEL does, as a matter of physics, make traffic law look optional. We are in constructive talks with several departments of motor vehicles, some of which still exist.
